| What
do I wear for an HPDE? |
| Obviously,
dress comfortably and be prepared for the weather conditions.
You will be spending a lot of time outside. Remember that long-sleeve
shirts, long pants and closed-toe shoes are a required while
on the track. Beyond that, wear natural fibers like cotton,
which will not melt into your skin in a fire. You will need
a helmet rated by Snell, of M- or 2000. In 2006 we will
no longer be accepting 95 helmets, only 2000 and 2005. Gloves
are always a good idea – especially thin leather or nomex
ones that will keep sweaty hands from slipping on the wheel.
I highly encourage everyone to consider wearing a full nomex
race suit. No one will think of you as a poseur – just
someone smart enough to avail him- (or her)self of all the safety
they can! To purchase safety equipment visit our sponsor Driving
Impressions. |
| What
else should I bring along? |
A
helmet rated Snell M or 2000
Hat, sunglasses, and suntan lotion
Picnic lunch – although many tracks have food concessions
Non-alcoholic beverages
Rain gear (if you bring it, it won't rain)
Folding chairs
A tarp or other covering (to store the things you remove from
your car before driving on the track or to protect from the
elements)
A camera and/or video camera - if you want pictures please take
them safely and from behind any fencing.
A Friend/Crew Member to help out
Extra brake pads, fluid and the means to change them.
